Youth Work that Works 2009

Youth Work that Works 2009

Last week the Youth Service held our annual presentation evening.  350 young people and youth workers from all over County Durham got together at the Durham Centre in Belmont to celebrate the high quality youth work that has taken place over the past year.  Each area has two winning projects (one classifiec as large and one small).  these projects are then judged to come up with an overall winner.

The evening was hosted by Keith Jones Senior Youth Worker from Teesdale and the certificates and trophies were presented by Mr John Carver the Newcastle United first team coach when Sir Bobby Robson was manager.  John did a great job and we can't thank him enough for giving up his time and crossing the water to support our celebrations.

The winning projects were both from the Dales Area.  In the large units category the winners were Teesdale Community Resources and in the small category Wolsingham Youth Club.

John Carver and I appear as the old people on the picture with the representatives from TCR.

I am resuming my informal youth club visits this evening and hopefully I will be able to visit Bowburn Youth Project and Millbank Youth Club.
